Languages: Arabic is the official language; French and English are both widely used, particularly in business circles.

Climate: Generally warm and dry from November to March although day temperatures can rise to over 38°C. April to October can see periods of intense heat in Cairo and Upper Egypt. Trading between Egypt and Switzerland: For the period from January to August 2010, trade volume between Switzerland and Egypt has reached 519.6 million Swiss francs compared to 532.8 million Swiss francs for the same period of 2009, a decrease of nearly 3%.
