Trade for Peace Talk : A conversation with Peace and Trade Negotiators
CASCI is pleased to inform you that our Secretary General, Ms Hilda Al-Hinai, will have the privilege of moderating Session 8 at the WTO Public Forum scheduled for September 13, 2023.
The session is scheduled from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM. For those of you who will attend the Public Forum, you are invited to join us in Room E of the WTO Headquarters in Geneva.

Despite the high concentration of trade and peace-related organisations in Geneva, institutional silos prevent the regular exchange of information and sharing of best practice between these parallel but closely related disciplines.
To remedy this problem and break down these silos, the WTO Accessions Division and the Geneva Trade Platform are bringing together trade negotiators and peace negotiators. This conversation will show how peace negotiations are conducted in relation to trade negotiations, the different considerations and approaches needed to finalise an agreement, as well as best practices and lessons to be learned from each discipline, with the aim of mutually reinforcing the effectiveness of these respective negotiations.
