The Chamber’s objectives
The objectives of the Chamber are to promote and expand relations between Switzerland and the Arab Countries, members of the League of Arab States, and particularly:
To co-ordinate, develop and facilitate
To co-ordinate, develop and facilitate the commercial, industrial, and financial relations between Switzerland and the Arab Countries, in both ways, by making known on a reciprocal basis their economic potentialities;
To improve and extend opportunities
To improve and extend opportunities for industrial and technical co-operation between Switzerland and the Arab Countries, in close collaboration with private or public organizations with similar objectives;
To encourage the transfer of technology
To encourage the transfer of technology, professional training and the creation of joint ventures in industry and agriculture;
To provide information and advice
To provide information and advice, at the request of the members;
To offer on request its good offices
To offer on request assistance or mediation service in case of dispute;
To supply information
To supply information, with the help of competent authorities, about touristic, cultural, scientific and artistic potentialities in Switzerland and the Arab Countries;
To endorse visas on commercial
To endorse visas on commercial and other documents.
The history
Founded in 1974 in Geneva, the Arab-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been representative of all the components of the Arab-Swiss commercial, industrial and economic fabric since its inception.
The Chamber is a non-profit association under Swiss civil law, created to promote commercial, industrial, and cultural relations between Switzerland and the Arab countries members of the League of Arab States.
Through its very close contacts with diplomatic circles, local chambers of commerce and private and public actors in the trade and industry sectors, the Chamber acts as a promoter, source of information and facilitator of commercial and cultural relations between Switzerland and the 22 Arab countries it represents and offers companies and individuals a wide range of innovative and personalized solutions.
In particular, the Chamber is a privileged partner of small and medium-sized enterprises, providing them with excellent information high-level contacts in the public and private sectors at little or no cost.
With the active support of the diplomatic and economic circles of all concerned countries , the Chamber was created by a group of dynamic personalities of the Arab-Swiss business world, among whom Mr. Elias Attia, who was its Secretary General until 2009. The presidency was first held by Mr. Werner Oberli, from Novartis, from 1974 to 2013, then the position was taken over by our current president, Mr. Jean-Paul Vulliety, in May 2013. He was assisted by Mr. Bahaa El Attar, Secretary General from 2009, who has handed over the torch to H.E. Ms. Hilda Al Hinai, former ambassador of Oman to the WTO in November 2022
Since its creation, the Chamber has organized numerous economic missions in most Arab countries and is involved at the highest level in the organization of official visits between Switzerland and the Arab countries.
